
- The Colorblue - Oldest City of Rajasthan

- The colorblue, which covers most of the Jodhpur City, makes it glow with a mystifying light and it is also thought to repel insects.
- The Rathores, who controlled much of Marwar in western Rajasthan including Bikaner, the other desert fiefdom, ruled the City of Jodhpur. It was Rao Jodha who decided to shift base to a safer spot and moved from Mandore to Jodhpur, which was founded in the year 1459.
- Jodhpur is the oldest city of Rajasthan and the second largest one. A ten-kilometer long wall surrounds it and is characterized by a meander of colorful streets, scented by incense and flowers, with shops and animated markets that specialize in antiques.

- PRIME SITES - MEHRANGARH FORT

- Mehrangarh Fort is located at an altitude of about 125 meters and is spread over an area of 5 sq. km in the heart of the city.
- The fort has seven gates of which the noted ones are the Jayapol, built by Maharaja Man Singh in 1806; Fatehpol or the Victory Gate built by Maharaja Ajit Singh and the Lohapol or the Iron Gate.

- Jaswant Thada is a white marble memorial built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant II in the year 1899, A story goes that Maharaja Jaswant succumbed to injuries in this place while fighting the Mughal king Jahangir.
- PRIME SITES - BALSMAND LAKE AND GARDENS

- About 5 km from Jodhpur is the Balsamand Lake and Gardens, a splendid spot for excursion. This pretty lake of Jodhpur was built in AD 1159. The lake is a place to be seen in Jodhpur. The summer palace that stands by the side of the lake is another place worth visiting.
- PRIME SITES - UMAID BHAWAN

- Umaid Bhawan is built of marble and pink sandstone. The construction of the hallmark started in the year 1929 and it is believed that the palace was constructed to give employment to the famine-struck population of the city.
- This splendiferous building is presently the residence of the former rulers with a part of it running as hotel and remaining part as a museum.
- Mandore Gardens,the Sardar Government Museum, library and the zoo are located in the pleasant Umaid Gardens. Museum is the place to visit to see stuffed animals, old weapons and sculptures. Another place to visit in Jodhpur is the old fort museum. Amongst the must see exhibits are palanquins, lavishly upholstered royal howdahs, a golden throne, shoes with pearls, paintings, mirrors, cribs weapons and a magnificently embroidered royal tent.
